Located in the north of Douglas County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, Highlands Ranch is an award-winning, 22,000-acre master planned community. A south suburb of Denver, Colorado, Highlands Ranch is located 12 miles south of Denver and 15 miles south of the Colorado state capital building. The east boundary of Highlands Ranch is about 1 mile west of Interstate I-25 and tracks west along Interstate C-470. The Ranch stretches 7 miles west to State Highway 85 (Santa Fe Drive). Highlands Ranch is home to nearly 76,000 people and 25,000 residential properties. At final build-out, 90,000 residents are expected to occupy 36,700 homes. Sixty one percent of the land area has been designated for non-urban land use - the largest parcel being the 8,200-acre Wildcat Mountain Reserve, located in the southern part of Highlands ranch. Eight percent of the development has been designated for business or commercial use.
